Year in Review: Key Club Leaders Present at Kiwanis Meeting

Published On: July 22, 2019

Cactus Shadows High School Key Club president Abagail Mock and vice president Rachel Matheson presented a year in review at the May 22 meeting for the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Both students recently received scholarships funded by the Kiwanis Foundation at the Scholarship Awards Program on May 15.

Beginning with the election of officers in last year’s final club meeting, Mock and Matheson traced the major events for the Key Club in the 2018-2019 academic year. Some highlights from the past year include making a float for homecoming, the Fall Rally leadership camp, the District Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and hosting the school’s biannual blood drive. It was a very successful year for the Key Club, with membership doubling to 30 students; Mock and Matheson predict that the club will grow even more in the upcoming school year.

Following the presentation, the Kiwanis Club of Carefree presented Mock and Matheson with medallions and plaques to show their appreciation for four years of service in the Cactus Shadows Key Club. Both students will be attending Northern Arizona University in the fall, and Kiwanis wishes them the best of luck in their studies.
