Community Involvement

Over the years, the Kiwanis Club of Carefree has contributed greatly toward the community. Here are just some of the major projects you may see as you drive through our community, or have had the chance to use on occasion.

Desert Awareness Park

Desert Awareness Park

What’s more fun than a trip to the park? Even better, a trip to the Desert Awareness Park, a 28-acre local treasure where family and friends can picnic, play, hike and learn about our desert wonderland?

The Desert Awareness Park features a children’s play structure donated by the Carefree Kiwanis Club, an interpretive center, an amphitheater and comfort facilities, all designed to enhance your outdoor experience.

Kiwanis Splash Park

Kiwanis Splash Park

A scorpion named “KIWANI” resides in the center of the splash pad, and ‘comes to life’ unexpectedly, creating a level of interactivity and a unique team play experience. This exciting focal point of the area, combined with nearby ground spray jets, creates a magical, nature-inspired play environment for youngsters!

Carefree Sundial

Carefree Sundial

The Kiwanis Club of Carefree acquired the sundial property in 1976 and gifted it to the Town of Carefree in 1988. It is maintained and dedicated to the memory of Fellow Kiwanis member Kenon Turner (K.T.) Palmer (1899 – 1976).

Caring Corps

Mobility Equipment Loans

Originally started by Kiwanis Carefree, then turned over to the Foothills Caring Corps for better community availability, they provide mobility devices such as wheelchairs, walkers and more to community residents, free of charge.

And many more contributions to organizations throughout the Desert Foothills area …
