KIWANIS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Ted Dimon

Ted Dimon is a cornerstone of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree; not only because he has been a member since 2002, but because he represents the “culture” of the Club. He has been a “contributor” since day one which is why he was soon recognized as “New Member of the Year”.
Ted hails from a small town about 50 miles north of New York City where he attended grade school through high school all in the same building, graduating in a small class of 52. He started his college program in Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University in upstate New York, finishing at the University of Miami as an Industrial Engineer, specializing in manufacturing efficiency.
He spent his early career with major companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Standard Brands and ITT in various management positions supporting their manufacturing divisions. Then he switched to running small companies, two of which he owned.
He crafted his music skills, first as a teenager in his church choir, then progressing through other choral groups as an adult, eventually directing his own choir where he learned to wave his arms much like he does every Wednesday leading the patriotic song at the Kiwanis luncheon meetings. Due to his deep resounding voice, he has been the “Voice of Kiwanis” for decades, having the most fun as the auctioneer at the many Western Night parties held in the past.
He was elected twice to the Kiwanis Board of Directors and continues to serve on the Schools and Education Committee, after chairing the Yearbook Committee for a decade. He was one of the stalwart members of the Kiwanis Flea Market when he was awarded “Kiwanian of the Year.”
Ted continues his life in Kiwanis as he maintains the tradition of telling a “true and sometimes amusing story” at each meeting and serving as a “pillar” of Kiwanis history.
Come and join us at Kiwanis and get to know Ted Dimon.
