Blood Drive and Food Drive Success!

The Key Club at Cactus Shadows High School, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Carefree is continuing its service to our community by hosting both a Blood Drive and Food Drive. The Blood Drive and Food Drive was held at Anytime Fitness at Cave Creek Road and Tatum that graciously donated the space.

Vitalant is the Blood Drive Company that administered the blood collection process. Vitalant supplies blood to 90% of Arizona hospitals and 100% of those in Maricopa County. They provided four technical people to schedule, screen and draw the blood along with a complete blood draw array of equipment filling a space of 30 by 40 feet.

Our goal was to collect 19 units of blood and we ended up collecting 24 products (we did 3 power reds procedures)!

Food Donations were accepted from April 22nd until mid May for:

  • Foothills Food Bank
  • Puppy Love
  • Horse Star Rescue

Banners and chairs provided by Kiwanis Carefree.

Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs Chair, Ms Kimberly Marie Jack coordinated the program with the Key Club Treasurer, Ethan Jack who was there during the Blood Draw Program and coordinated the collection of the food.
