“Under the Misters” Awards Event October 21st
The Kiwanis Club and Foundation of Carefree is very pleased to announce our October 21, 2020 “Under the Misters” Awards Ceremony in Carefree, where we presented checks to a wide range of local organizations in our continuing recognition of the wonderful programs they do for our Community. In total over $165,000 was awarded that morning.
It was observed by all attending Kiwanis members, that the theme of “misters” continues to be appropriate for these meetings. As the checks were being awarded, the organizations’ leaders spoke passionately about what impact the Kiwanis’ support made to the children and the veterans receiving these donations. All acceptance remarks were very emotional.
There was not a dry eye in the house… all were “misty eyed”. All Kiwanians were very proud of the members’ efforts that went into generating these donated funds through the Marketplace to the local Community.
These are the organizations that received funds that emotional morning:
- Cave Creek Unified School District – Chromebooks
- Rancho Milagro Foundation – Youth equine therapy
- Desert Foothills Theater – New sound board
- Annunciation Catholic School – Chromebooks and STEAM technology
- Lone Mountain Elementary School – STEAM programs, materials and support
- Cactus Shadows High School – Pay to Play Scholarships totaling $12,500
- Jubilate Conservatory of Music – Music scholarships for kids
- Scott Foundation – Open hearth grill for outdoor kitchen – Foster Kids Culinary Program
- Desert Foothills Land Trust – Desert Discovery Days
- Spirit In The Desert – Retreat Center for our Healing Memories of Veterans’ Workshops
- Upscale Singers – 2020 Youth Outreach Program (Jr. High and High School)Veterans Memorial – Contribution to building the memorial
